Invisalign FAQ

At Travers Orthodontics, we are proud to be a provider of Invisalign. We understand you may have additional questions about the treatment and procedures. That’s why we’re always here to discuss any of your concerns. Below are the most frequently asked questions related to Invisalign treatment.

Does Invisalign really work?

Yes. Invisalign has been proven effective to straighten teeth when the aligners are worn as directed by your orthodontist.

How does Invisalign straighten the teeth?

Invisalign aligners work by applying an appropriate placement of controlled movement to the teeth. This is done through a series of progressive aligners tailored to your specific smile, with each set of aligners moving only a certain set of teeth. This allows for a system that controls both the amount of movement per aligner and the timing of the movement, ultimately moving teeth into their desired position.

How much does Invisalign cost?

Our orthodontists will determine the exact price of treatment after your initial examination. The cost depends on the complexity of the case and the estimated duration of treatment. Invisalign typically costs around the same amount as traditional braces.

Does insurance cover Invisalign?

Invisalign is covered by any insurance plan that covers orthodontic services.

Is Invisalign treatment painful?

When you switch to each next aligner in your progressive series, there may be some discomfort as your mouth gets used to the new adjustment. This is temporary and a sign that your aligners are working.

How long will I have to wear my aligners?

You will need to wear your aligners at all times except when you are eating, brushing or flossing - in order for treatment to be effective. The amount of time you are using Invisalign varies and depends on the complexity of your case. This duration will be determined by your orthodontist. Only your orthodontist will be able to determine how many aligners are needed to straighten your teeth.

What do the aligners look like?

Your aligners are nearly invisible clear plastic trays that are custom made to fit your teeth. When worn, their appearance is similar to tooth whitening strips such as Crest Whitestrips.

Can Invisalign work for me if I’ve already had orthodontic treatment?

If your teeth have shifted after braces or other orthodontic treatment, Invisalign will work to get them back to their new, straight position.
